Sonny was born in 1983 in Vietnam after the war and his parents and older sister fled their country as the communist were occupying the country and putting the southern Vietnamese men into re-education camp. Sonny was 2 years old when he escaped Vietnam. After they escaped by boat and was saved by a cargo ship and taken to Indonesia where his younger sister was then born. Sonny and his family spent 2 and a bit years in a refugee camp in Galang before being sponsored by family in Australia who fled many years before. In Australia Sonny lived in Wacol a center for incoming refugees, which is now part of the correction center for convicted criminals. His family then moved to Inala a settlement for immigrants that was previously occupied by the Polish immigrants and before that the returning WW2 veterans. This is where Sonny has and is still living to this day. Inala has become the new Saigon city in Queensland, which resides a very large Vietnamese population with cultural shops, industry and culture events located in and around the suburb. Sonny went to Richlands East SS and then to Corinda SHS and did his teaching and human movements degree at Queensland University of Technology Kelvin grove Campus. He had a 20 year teaching career and Taught at St Marks SS, Kenmore SHS, Corinda SHS and Bremer SHS before perusing his acting career in his late 30s. His passion has been in training others and himself in the areas of body building, martial arts and financial wealth. He is also a qualified Personal trainer and Martial arts Instructor in Wing Chin Kung Fu
